1972年は厳しい年となり専門家の評価も割れましたが
「大柄で深い色をたたえ果実味とハーブ、西洋杉のブーケが
ある」と格付第1級に相応しい賛辞を得ています。

評価はこの年のボルドー産では第1位ですから引合いが耐えず
世界に1972年のワインが枯渇している現在、高騰していますが
希少な作品に出逢えることは少なくなっています。

シャトーHPより転載しておきます。

The mild damp weather that prevailed all winter lasted until 15 April.
From then on, it was cold with light morning frosts. May was rainy and
cold : there was a frost on the morning of the 17th. In May, sunshine
at a record low in 22 years. The cold rainy weather continued for
the first half of June. It improved during the second half but the
nights were still cold. Under these conditions, flowering, which
started on 12 June, was slow and only a very average harvest was
anticipated despite the earlier promising signs. July was fine and hot
with little rain. Unfortunately August and September were cool and
rainy and vine development slowed. The grapes began to ripen at the
very end of August and under these adverse conditions, colored slowly.
There were even white frosts on 29 and 30 September. The vintage began
on 9 October through 24 October. There was good weather throughout the
harvest with alternating hot and cool days. The crop was healthy with
only few rotten grapes, but the musts were acidic, lacking sugar and
color.

Vintage quality and tasting comments

On the nose the wine exhibits typical coffee-cedar aromas. The mouth
has kept some fruit but lacks balance and the finish is a little
astringent.

Quality: Mediocre year

The moment for optimal drinking and best way of serving

The wines have passed their optimum and should be drunk quickly.
For service, keep the bottle vertical at least half a day to settle
the sediments at the bottom of the bottle. Then slowly pour the wine
into a decanter in order to get rid of these sediments and serve.
